Hello! My name is Karen Raman. I’m a 32 year leukemia survivor. I have chronic lymphocytic leukemia which has no cure yet. I had two stem cell transplants, one using my own stem cells, the other an unrelated donor. Things were going great on immunotherapy until Oct. ‘22 when I was diagnosed with osteo sarcoma. I lost my right femur, knee & 2 quads. I still use a walker & am frustrated to walk unassisted again. Happy Feet has encouraged me to keep fighting! This is my third time ‘ I get so much out of this class.
my name is Karen Raman, I’m a 30 year survivor of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. I’ve undergone 13 rounds of chemo therapy, 2 rounds of radiation, 2 stem cell transplants & am now on my second immunotherapy drug. At this time, there is no cure so i will be on immunotherapy for life to hopefully keep my disease bunker control. I seem to always have fatigue so I hope by continuing with this second round of HAPPY FEET, I will notice even more positive changes.
I’m looking forward to getting to know my fellow attendees.
We definitely have all learned that there are treatments for many of our long term issues after cancer treatment. Happy Feet has provided so much hope that something can be done for many long term side effects of treatment. Thank you Jen for arranging the wide variety of speakers who so generously set time aside to speak to us. Hopefully we are all in a better place after completing the Happy Feet program.
Hello! MY name is Karen Raman. I am a 30 year survivor of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. It was discovered by accident when some blood work revealed extremely high white blood cells. I received 13 different rounds of chemotherapy combination treatments & two rounds of radiation. I also had chemo injected in my spine when the leukemia invaded my spinal fluid. I had an Autologous Stem Cell Transplant in 2002 & an Allogenic Stem Cell Transplant from an unrelated donor in 2011. In 2012 I received 4 rounds of lymphocytes from my original donor when I developed Lymphocytosis. Since 2014, I began targeted oral therapy. I strongly believe if you have people to share your cancer journey it is much easier. I have taken advantage of many of CancerBridges offerings which have all been extremely helpful in remaining hopeful.
